Vulval Problems / Vulvoscopy

There are many conditions, such as lichen sclerosis / lichen planus / VIN that can affect the vulva and these conditions require careful management to ensure the condition is kept well controlled. It is important if you do have a vulval condition that a gynaecologist with experience in the vulva examines you with a microscope (vulvoscopy) and takes a biopsy / swab of the area if this is needed.

Common symptoms include itching, pain, soreness or a change in skin colour and texture. These symptoms may be caused by a condition as mentioned above but can sometimes be a sign of a general medical problem. It is therefore recommended that if you have a vulval condition other issues such as diabetes and thyroid problems should be excluded. Miss Tipples can arrange all these necessary tests in clinic.

Other vulval conditions that Miss Tipples can manage and advise on is thrush / candida, vulvodynia, Bartholin cyst / abscess, dermatitis, folliculitis, atrophy and psoriasis.
