Early pregnancy can be an extremely stressful and emotional time particularly if you’ve experienced problems with previous pregnancies. If you have concerns during the first trimester or would like reassurance your pregnancy is progressing, then Miss Tipples can see you in clinic and undertake an ultrasound scan.
If your scan confirms a live pregnancy then you will be encouraged to register with a midwife, if not already done so.
If the scan shows that you’ve had a miscarriage or an ectopic then further management can be arranged by Miss Tipples, and this would usually be undertaken at St Richards.
Sometimes scans are inconclusive, and this may mean it is not possible to give you a definitive answer on your first visit. It may be too early to see a heartbeat on the scan. In this situation Miss Tipples will arrange another scan and sometime blood tests to look at the pregnancy hormone levels.
